Members of Local 222 vote to give CAW strike mandate

Members of Local 222 have overwhelmingly supported a strike mandate for the Canadian Auto Workers. With contract talks upcoming between the CAW and the big three, Local 222 voted 96.8 per cent in favour of a strike. President Chris Buckley says despite the strong message, it remains the union’s position to bargain a fair settlement without a labour dispute. The current contract will expire on Monday, September 17th and 11:59 p.m.
