Opposition critic says provincial energy policy is out of control
Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Business, Durham, Politics
A unit at the Pickering Nuclear Plant went offline for two days last week because of a surplus of power in Ontario. PC Energy Critic Vic Fedeli says the McGuinty government is out of control when it comes to energy policy, and it’s showing up on hydro bills. According to the Auditor General’s latest report, rates will rise 46 per cent by 2015. Fedeli says the shut down at the Pickering plant cost over a million dollars, and OPG will not be compensated for the lost generation.

August 18th, 2012 at 9:28 amRadical environmentalists know as well as we do that nuclear power is the safest, most reliable, and cleanest source of electricity. They know a single nuclear plant delivers the same power over a year as does a 300-square-mile wind farm with 2,200 30-story wind turbines, the difference being that the nuclear plant delivers energy when needed, not just when the wind is blowing. If you want to de-industrialize the Western world, you champion energy sources that will lead us back to the days of human and animal power, and those are wind and solar power.
