Lakeridge Health opens a new acute cardiac unit

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Healthcare

A brand new acute cardiac unit is now open at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.  The unit is specifically designed to care for patients with serious heart illness and Program Director Lorraine Carrington says it’s a four-bed, short stay unit. The unit is for patients who are not sick enough to be in the critical care unit, but still too sick to be in a general hospital unit. Funding for the new unit was provided by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care’s post construction operating program.  It’s one of six new units that have opened at Lakeridge Health in the last 18 months.
