Liberal party leader expresses concern over pending teachers contract

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Education, Politics

Premier Dalton McGuinty says he’s worried his minority government won’t be able to win opposition support to impose a new contract on Ontario teachers.  McGuinty says Liberal MPPs don’t have enough votes on their own to follow through on his threat to use legislation to bring in a new teacher’s contract by September 1st.  The Liberals aren’t saying if they plan to designate a possible teacher’s contract legislation as a matter of confidence which would result in an election if it was defeated.
