19 year old facing possible impaired driving charges after a head on collision on the QEW

A 19 year old man could face impaired driving charges after a head-on crash killed a father and daughter on Sunday morning in Toronto.  Police say 49 year old Jayantha Wijeratne and his 16 year old daughter Eleesha were killed when their minivan was hit by a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction at the QEW and Highway 427 in the early morning hours.  Wijeratne’s wife is in Sunnybrook hospital with life threatening injuries.  The family was out celebrating the woman’s 50th birthday.  The suspect is in hospital receiving treatment for serious injuries, but is expected to recover.
