Tragic long weekend on Ontario waterways

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, GTA, Toronto

It seems the water has been a dangerous place to be this long weekend.  Toronto Police say two brothers, aged 18 and 22, drowned in Lake Ontario, in Scarborough on Sunday.  Their names have not been released.  Meanwhile, according to Durham Police, one man is missing and presumed drowned on Lake Ontario near Ajax and another on Lake Scugog.  Authorities also found the body of a 43 year-old Mississauga man, who went missing while swimming at Long Point Provincial Park.  Safety experts say drownings are almost always preventable.  They say children should always be kept in-sight and within arms length, and life jackets should always be worn, especially when out on large bodies of water.
