NASA’s ‘Curiosity’ rover landed successfully in a martian crater early Monday morning and has already beamed back, black-and-white images. NASA’s seventh landing on Mars is being called an engineering tour de force. It used never before tried acrobatics that saw cables lower the rover gently to the ground from a hovering rocket pack. Workers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory cheered, clapped and even shed a few tears, while at the Canadian Space Agency, workers were ecstatic. Canada has spent $18-million over the past seven years on a device aboard curiosity that will help look for signs of life.
