Diabetes affecting over a third of Canadians, also affects economy

The battle against diabetes is continuing for nearly a third of all Canadians and it’s taking its toll on the country’s economy. Every year, the disease costs the health care system about $12 billion. President and CEO of the Canadian Diabetes Association, Michael Cloutier, says the best way to fight the disease is with a healthy lifestyle. He says that shockingly, Canada ranks third-highest when it comes to diabetes-related mortality.
