Mandatory labels come into effect for food allergy sufferers

New federal rules take effect Saturday that will make life easier for Canadians with food allergies.  The rules force food companies to clearly state on the label certain ingredients that could trigger life-threatening allergic reactions.  Those ingredients include wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, soy, seafood, sulphites, sesame seeds, and mustard.  Some companies have voluntarily complied with the new rules — but starting Saturday it’s mandatory for them to do so.
