Police promise roadway blitz for the long weekend

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, Durham, Roads

Durham police are warning motorists, they’ll be out in full force this long weekend.  The “Crush the Rush” campaign will target the top ten identified high collision roadways in North Durham.  Sergeant Nancy Van Rooy says those off to the cottage often forget or ignore the rules of the road.  Similar blitzes were previously – on Victoria Day weekend, 141 tickets were issued for speeding and aggressive driving, while there were six collisions.  On Canada Day weekend there were 138 tickets issued, but fortunately no accidents.
