Health Minister Deb Matthews questioned over ORNGE for a second time

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Healthcare, Politics

Ontario’s Health Minister wasn’t mincing words at Tuesday’s hearing on ORNGE.  Deb Matthews says the defence presented by the former CEO is “pure nonsense.”  She says under Chris Mazza’s leadership, ORNGE stonewalled government officials about salaries and a complex web of for-profit companies.  In his testimony earlier this month, Mazza said the Health Ministry always knew about changes he was making and never told him he had veered off course.  Durham MPP John O’Toole says the opposition parties have been adamant that Matthews should step down.  O’Toole says the house should be called back immediately and a full inquiry called into the air ambulance scandal.  Meanwhile, Mazza may also be recalled to face the legislative committee for a second time.
