Tuesday expected to be the hottest day of the year in the GTA so far

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, GTA, Toronto

Environment Canada says the type of heat in Tuesday’s forecast isn’t unheard of for this time of year. Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the mercury will climb to the high-30s, with the humidity making it feel closer to 45 degrees Celsius. Coulson warns high temperatures can lead to violent thunderstorms, like the one that hit the Whitby Ribfest Sunday, sending 17 people to hospital. People are once again encouraged to stay in air conditioned places, and to drink plenty of fluids. The heat should break ahead of Wednesday, with the temperature expected to be around 29 degrees.
