Two people dead and 24 others injured in block party shoot-out in Scarborough

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, Durham, GTA, Toronto

There continues to be a major police presence in the Morningside and Lawrence area, after Monday night’s deadly shooting.  Police say what started off as a block party on Danzig Street, ended in a gang-related shooting that left two dead and 24 wounded.  Police Chief Bill Blair is making an appeal for witnesses to come forward with information quickly before anyone takes revenge.  Police have identified the victims as 14-year-old Shyanne Charles from Toronto and 23-year-old Joshua Yasay from Ajax.  One of the injured was a 22-month-old child who was grazed by a bullet.  A makeshift memorial has been set up at the site.  Homicide investigators have now established a direct line for anyone who has information. They can call 416-808-4330, or upload photos by clicking here.  Mayor Rob Ford says the city is still the safest in the world.  He says he’s shocked and disgusted by this “senseless act of violence”.
