Police search for a suspect after a hit and run in Mississauga

Peel police are looking for witnesses after a serious collision in Mississauga involving a motorcycle on Tuesday, July 10th. 28 year old Christopher Causgrove-Carter of Hamilton, is suspected of driving the 2011 Ford Escape that hit a 48 year old man on a motorcycle on Lakeshore Blvd at Winston Churchill Blvd. The victim suffered serious injuries and is now in serious but stable condition. Police say the suspect fled on foot after the collision. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Causgrove-Carter is described as a white male, 5’7 with a slim build, brown hair and blue eyes.

July 13th, 2012 at 9:25 pmWhy do they need to look for witnesses, they had plenty. What’s the problem, they don’t believe a bunch of different people who were around. Yeah the bike ran a green arrow turn light for the opposite side of street, therefore the motorcyclist is at fault. I know this, my daughter was in the SUV.

According to the police AND the eye witnesses and logic considering the route that he was taking, the motorcyclist was NOT turning, he was driving straight and thus in the right of way. In fact, considering the intersection, he could not have possibly been turning left since there is no road there. The only direction he could have possibly turned was right which he was not going. The SUV which IS AT FAULT, turned when they did NOT have the right of way considering traffic was there (if there wasn’t then the motorcyclist would not have been hit).
Also, they asked for more witnesses, not because they did not believe the ones they had or that they did not have enough but because different people always notice different things; different perspectives and different angles. What could have completely bypassed most people could have been noticed and remembered by someone else.

July 20th, 2012 at 8:14 pmToni, get your facts straight. Are you saying that the motorcycle driver ran a red light? I was told, directly by the police that the motorcycle driver was not at fault. The SUV that your daughter was a passenger in was fully at fault no matter how you look at it.
And putting blame aside (because I was not there) there is a warrant out for the driver of the SUV because he left the scene of the accident (he knew he was at fault), and as far as I know, still has not turned himself into police 10 days later.
Toni, you should be extremely mad as well because he (the driver) left your daughter (his girlfrend) at the scene of the accident as well as leaving MY BROTHER lying near dead on the road. Thank God that MY BROTHER was tended to quickly and air lifted to the hospital where his life was saved.He underwent 12 hours of surgery to repair organs that were damaged by the SUV driven by YOUR daughters boy friend. He has still not woken up and we have no idea when he will. Until he wakes up there is no telling how much brain damage was caused by the accident.
Scott has been my big brother for 45 years and Jordan’s uncle for 20 years and my parents son for 48 years. He has two other nieces and a nephew, Aunts and Uncles, cousins and thousands of friends pulling for him. Your daughter has a boyfriend that left her to clean up his mess. Time to get a new boyfriend, I would say.

July 22nd, 2012 at 7:52 pmFirst of all, there was only one person in the vehicle, the driver. This I know to be fact. Any passenger in that car would have been in as serious condition as the motorcycle driver.
Secondly, though the driver of the SUV is legally at fault as he was turning and the motorcycle was going straight through the intersection, the damage to the passenger side of the SUV is evidence that the motorcycle hit the SUV, not the other way around.
My brother was hit by a driver running a red as my brother turned to clear the intersection, and my brother was legally found to be at fault for the accident, but that does not mean that he was the one who caused the accident.
All the reports I’ve seen has made the SUV driver out to the the person that caused the accident. Regardless of the fact that he left the scene of the crime, this is not an admission of fault for the actual accident. The driver left the scene because he was on bail for a previous charge, not because he knew he was guilty for the accident.
I am not trying to defend the SUV of his guilt, and Gwen, I do hope your brother a speedy recovery.

I would like to remind the gentleman commenter Toni, whose daughter’s boyfriend was driving the SUV, that a man is fighting for his life and has suffered very serious injuries.
Toni, please focus your energy on attempting to get the message to your daughter’s boyfriend to have the courage to come forward, rather than focusing on negative and aggressive comments regarding who was right and who was wrong in this unfortunate accident.
I am quite certain if one of your loved ones was seriously injured – reading negative comments about your loved one would be very hurtful to you and your family.
Please be respectful because the focus right now is on a wonderful man that has been seriously injured and has a long road to recovery.
Please show some compassion Toni – I am certain you would appreciate the same if the situation was reversed.
Again I am Praying for Scott :)

July 24th, 2012 at 7:36 pmWell this blows my mind…someone has been critically injured and all Toni can say is it wasn’t the SUV drivers fault? You know this because your daughter told you so?. Are you kidding me? Don’t you think she’s protecting her boyfriend, that’s what kids do. A long as the police know the truth that’s all that matters. If it isn’t his fault then why is this kid on the run? You need to get your priorities straight about what’s important in life. If your daughter were the one in the hospital you’d be singing a different tune. Have some compassion and respect for Scott’s family. I hope they catch this kid and throw away the key.
