Peel region strike may soon be over

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, GTA

Most of striking Peel region employees who have been off the job for as long as ten weeks have voted in favour of the region’s latest contract offer.  About 500 members of Cupe Local 966 representing Ontario Works, childrens services, housing services, and integrated business divisions approved the offer.  Another 80 employees at Transhelp, which runs the accessible transit service, also voted in favour of acepting the deal.  The approved agreements must still be ratified by Peel region council, which is expected to vote on the package today.
