Criminal investigation launched in the case of Elliot Lake’s mall roof collapse

OPP say a criminal investigation has been launched into the fatal mall roof collapse in Elliot Lake. The office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ministry of Labour are also conducting investigations. Two women were killed when part of the Algo Centre Mall’s roof caved in on June 23rd. Premiere Dalton McGuinty announced a public inquiry into the mall collapse last Friday, following a public outcry over what some resident felt was a botched search and rescue operation.
