It took plenty of debate and several hours, but the Toronto District School Board passed a balanced budget. About $58 million in cuts were agreed to by trustees at a special meeting Wednesday night. Among the highlights, trustees voted to shut down over 30 school cafeterias and accept a reduction in allotted funds for renovations. The board also agreed to spike permit fees by just under 41 per cent. That fee hike will generate over $2 million in savings.
