Councillors in Durham Region agree to borrow $113 million to put towards incinerator expenses

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Politics

Ground broke on Clarington’s incinerator last summer, but debate over the project still continues at regional council. Durham councillors discussed the issue recently, and agreed to borrow $113 million to put towards expenses. Chair Roger Anderson says unfortunately, some keep dragging out the debate by asking questions that have already been answered. The incinerator will be located on Osborne Road south of the 401, and is expected to be up and running by the fall of 2014. Anderson says any project can be killed, but it would cost a lot of money to do so. The incinerator is expected to be operational by fall of 2014.
