At Queen’s Park, MPP’s have passed the Liberal government’s anti-bullying legislation.  The controversial ‘Accepting Schools Act’ passed third and final reading with NDP support.  The Conservatives voted against the bill, which requires schools to let students call anti-homophobia clubs gay-straight alliances. Liberal MPP for Pickering-Scarborough-East Tracy MacCharles calls the legislation, groundbreaking, as they try and make schools across the province safer for everyone. Premier Dalton McGuinty says the goal of the law is to make schools safe and accepting places for all kids. Catholic church leaders complained the legislation will force them to accept student clubs that go against their faith.
