Durham residents expected to cast ballots for regional chair in 2014

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Politics

The direct election of Durham’s regional chair has received enough support to become reality. Tuesday night, Whitby became the fifth municipality to show support for the change, giving the plan the backing it needed to go forward. Mayor Pat Perkins echoed similar statements from other municipal leaders, saying this is what the public wants. Perkins says officials must now outline the expectations of the regional chair. Barring any issue, the public can expect to vote on the position come the 2014 municipal election.
