Durham businesses asked to show their pride

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

The AIDS Committee of Durham Region is hoping to run a rainbow running from one end of the region to the other. To mark May 17th, the 10th annual International Day Against Homophobia, the organization is asking businesses on Highway 2 to put pride flags in their windows. Outreach Coordinator Glenn Blake says he’s been met by a lot of different views while visiting businesses, including several employees who said they were afraid to come out at work. Blake says their goal is to get 100 flags in business windows along Highway 2, but says they’ll welcome any business across the region willing to post the pride flag for the day.
