Downtown Whitby will be the topic of a public info session Wednesday

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Politics

Residents of Whitby are being invited out to a public information session Wednesday on the downtown district. Officials are currently in phase one of a plan to designate the area a Heritage Conservation District, which would ensure sustainability. Spokesperson Melissa Markham says the area has special historical significance to the community, and features roughly 60 heritage buildings ranging from residential to commercial and industrial. The meeting will run from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. at the Centennial Building on Centre Street, and will give the public a chance to ask questions, and voice any concerns with the proposal.
