Two men sent to jail for spitting on TTC staff

A pair of men will spend some time in jail for assault, after spitting on TTC staff. According to the TTC, charges were laid after the separate incidents on April 17th. One victim was a route supervisor, while the other was a streetcar driver. Ian Merkley and Arthur Ballard will spend 15 and 19 days in jail. The TTC says on average, two employees are assaulted every day.
