Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, Durham

Durham Police are investigating after a 10 year old girl was approached by a stranger in Bowmanville.  Officials say at about 4:00 Thursday afternoon, the girl was walking in the Prout Drive and High Street area, when a man on a bicycle told her he’d been asked to take her home.  The girl ran to a neighbour’s house and police were called.  The man’s described as white, in his mid-30′s, clean shaven with short brown hair.  He was wearing a light blue shirt, beige shorts and a brown hat and was riding a mountain bike.  Meanwhile, authorities say on Tuesday morning, a 14 year old girl reported a suspicious person in the Liberty and Wellington area.  He’s described as white, about 45 years old with a tall, thin build, short hair and a goatee.  He was wearing a dark grey shirt and ripped blue jeans.  Anyone with information is urged to call police at 905-579-1520, ext.1611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
