Toronto Police Officer stabbed during traffic stop

A Toronto Police Officer has suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive after being stabbed in the neck during a traffic stop. Officials say another person, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was also shot multiple times during the altercation and is listed in critical condition. The incident happened just before 1:00 Monday morning in the Bathurst and Wilson area. Chief Bill Blair is crediting an off-duty firefighter for possible saving the officer’s life. The Special Investigations Unit has been called in. According to Ontario’s police watchdog, the incident began after police and emergency crews were sent to the Northmount and Delhi Avenue area after witnesses called to report gunshots.
