Firefighters continue to battle blaze in north Whitby

Officials say $400,000 worth of hay was lost at a farm in north Whitby. Whitby Fire says the blaze on Heron Road, north of Myrtle, erupted around 3:00 Monday afternoon and firefighters are will continue to douse hot spots for the remainder of the day, Tuesday. Durham Police have speculated that the fire may have been caused by sparks from the train tracks which intersect the property. Fortunately, no persons or livestock were hurt.
