Frequent cancer screening the key to early diagnosis, according to Durham Health Department

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Healthcare

The Durham Health Department is reminding residents about the importance of being screened for cancer on a regular basis. April is cancer awareness month, and Public Health Nurse Mary Sue O’Connor says you shouldn’t wait until there are symptoms to be looked over. O’Connor says it’s recommended men and women over the age of 50 be screened for colon cancer every two years. Women should also have additional testing for both breat and cervical cancers. More information is available on the region’s website.
