Canadians dim the lights in record numbers during Earth Hour

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, GTA, Toronto

The City of Toronto saw its power usage dip almost seven percent during another successful edition of Earth Hour on Saturday night. Toronto Hydro is reporting that enough energy was saved between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m to fully power around 128,000 additional households, which translates into 193 megawatts of electricity saved during the fifth annual climate change awareness event. In all, a record 511 Canadian cities pledged to turn down the lights, joining an estimated 6494 cities, across the globe.
