Durham Region spending $2.7 million annually to help provide housing to those in need

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

Many Durham families need help keeping a roof over-head.  About $2.7 million a year is being spent on a range of services to help those in need.  Director of housing services Mary Menzies says the number of people reaching out for help hasn’t changed in recent years. However, Menzies says who’s in need of help is changing, saying its no longer large families but single people and couples with no children who are having a hard time. Menzies says about 4,000 households in Durham are accessing support from the various programs offered. For more information click here, or call 905-666-6222.
