American authorities searching for former OHL owner in relation to Ponzi scheme

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, GTA, Toronto

The former owner of an OHL team is being south by American authorities for his part in a $129 million Ponzi scheme. The U.S. Justice Department claims 62 year-old William ‘Willy’ Wise is in the Toronto area, and has been missing since a complaint by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2009 resulted in security fraud charges. Wise used to own the Royals franchise, which played in both Cornwall and Newmarket.
