Toronto and Durham Police work together to arrest a man caught driving distracted

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, Durham, GTA, Toronto

A Port Perry man is facing charges thanks to a joint effort between Toronto and Durham Police. Officers in Toronto pulled over a man Wednesday afternoon for talking on his cell phone, but when they approached the pick-up truck the man sped off, leaving a trail of broken fences and dug-up fields behind him, before abandoning his truck. Toronto officers discovered the man lives in Port Perry, and when Durham officers arrived to make the arrest he again ran. The 27 year old was eventually arrested, just before midnight, with the help of the K9 unit and police helicopter.

Thank god we in the Durham Region have such a strong team of Police Canines. I just want it to be known that we all appreciate the work done by these wonderful animals.

Good work Durham Regional Police Canine Unit! I think our service needs even more working dogs to serve our growing Comminity!
