Rori Hache’s mother says murder charges are “the only answer I will accept”

Adam Strong, 45, made a brief court appearance Wednesday. The Oshawa man is facing a single charge of indecent interference with a dead body.

Durham police say body parts found in his MacMillan Drive basement apartment belonged to Rori Hache, 18, who went missing in August. Her torso was found in September in Lake Ontario in Oshawa.

Her friends and family were in the courtroom Wednesday. Hache’s mother, Shanan Dionne saw Strong for the first time.

“I’m disturbed at what I seen in the courtroom [sic],” Dionne told reporters. “The man has no emotion. You would think he was here for running over a kid’s basketball today. That’s the empathy for what he’s done.”

While no further charges have been laid, Dionne is hopeful more charges will soon be laid.

“I have the greatest detectives working on the case,” said Dionne. “They’ve been fabulous. They had nothing and they’ve in four months brought this S.O.B. where he needs to be.”

Hache was pregnant when she was killed and Dionne says she was upset to learn additional charges can’t be laid for the death of her unborn grandchild.

“I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure this man never comes out of prison again to hurt anyone,” Dionne said. “She was my only daughter. She was my only child.”

Hache’s mother isn’t sure if her daughter knew Strong before her death.

“I believe my daughter was hunted. I felt that since day one,” said Dionne. “Rori to me is everything. I am nothing without my daughter. I have nothing without her. I really don’t know what life is going to be like from this point on for my family because we’re never going to be the same without her.”

Dionne says she will be present at every court date.

Strong will be back in court in January 24. The details of his appearance are protected under a publication ban.
